Mt. Rainier 2011 (Post 2)

Here is the continuation of our Mt. Rainier trip!
The snow hadn't melted all yet... it was a late summer up there and snow was still on parts of the trail we were on!

James sitting in the chair in the lobby of Paradise Inn

We let James run around the lobby to practice his walking since our room was pretty small. He of course went straight for the fireplace, so I swept him up and that's what you see here!

This is the first time James walked down a hallway holding both our hands. He made it all the way, and it was a long hallway!

Down at the campsite meeting up with the Great Aunt Diane, the cousins Levi and Asher, Uncle Nathan and Aunt Lindy.

<3 my nephews!

James just loved that bat. He wouldn't let go of it!

Here we are, all walking holding hands. Levi saw me holding James's hand, and he wanted to hold my hand too. Then Asher felt left out, so I told him he could hold his brother's hand. And so there we were, a slow-moving toddler chain...

He kept pulling on me, and James didn't want to move anymore, so I had to tell him to wait!

The Labunski's have some smores

Me with my smore! My mom also had her very first smore on this trip... a milestone to be sure!

James got in the action with some graham crackers.

We had a lovely breakfast at the Inn with my mom the next morning. James had his usual... homemade (by me) zucchini blueberry waffles with cream cheese. And he of course made a big mess.

Me waiting for my breakfast before we go home!

Mt Rainier 2011! (Post #1)

We took our annual family trip up to Mt. Rainier this week, and luckily this time we had the company of James's grandma, great aunt, aunt, uncle, and two cousins! It was very cold up there, as we figured it might be from past experience, so we decided to stay at Paradise Inn again like last year rather than camp. James had a great time practicing his walking in all sort so of terrain, and the Lord blessed our time with my family in all kinds of ways... even some unexpected ones. All in all, it was a memorable trip! I had to split this post in to two since I had so many pics I want to share and they only let me post 20 at a time. And, if you just haven't had enough by then, feel free to browse the "James's 15th Month album to the right.

To start off the trip, James refuuuuuuuused to sleep at ALL in his carseat all 4 hours of the travel time up there (this is par for the course for James, who will rarely sleep anywhere but his crib). BUT, the last five minutes on the drive up the mountain, James conked out in his carseat! So I stayed with him in the car while Eliot unpacked everything. And here it is, one of the few sleeping pics I have of James... with Paradise in the background.

Here we are setting out on a short family hike!

Somewhere in the fog, there is a giant mountain. I promise.

Pasque flower, or Anemone (I think).

You can kind of see the base of the mountain in this pic...

Lupines

James's command central... we decided that chasing after him in the hotel room wasn't our idea of vacation.

Me and my Aunt Diane, ready to walk!

Black tailed deer in the mist and fog.

Eliot and James with the deer in the background.

Grouse!

Aunt Diane and Eliot figuring out that it is a grouse thanks to an iPhone app. Ah, technology...

Partridge Foot

All of us at the rock I've taken my picture by since I was little.

James hanging out!

First haircut!

On our trip up to Mt. Rainier, we decided to schedule James's first haircut at a place in Lake Oswego called Little Clippers (believe it or not, they don't have a kid's haircut place in all of Eugene). I was so so ready for his hair to get trimmed, it was falling in his eyes and had curly whispys behind his ears that were always getting food stuck in it and whatnot. So, here was our adventure at Little Clippers with James getting his first haircut!

In the car on the way to the haircut place
The "before" shot
James in his car chair! He wasn't very happy about this process, I think he was scared and having some teething pain that was irritated by the (very nice and fast) lady touching his ears

After! So much better!! He even had mango scented hair gel, which daddy didn't like much but mommy LOVED!
Playing in the waiting area while they print up his certificate with his lock of baby hair.

After- Outside the hair salon. Isn't he cute??
