Playtime!

James spends most of his time playing... ok, all of his waking hours playing! And I spend all of my waking hours figuring out new things to give him to play with. So there is a lot of playtime at our house. I thought I'd show some pictures of James at play.... with a blanket (peekaboo!), with a box (emptying and filling), with toilet paper rolls (stacking), with a ball (dropping behind head), with a swing, with a house from my childhood, with a book, with a toy phone, with just about anything he can find.

Also, some new things James has figured out how to do:
Brush his hair.... he figured this one out on his own after watching me do it!
Brush his teeth... well, sorta. He still needs help with this one.
Putting things back after he takes them off/out.
Pushing toys up to the coffee table so he can climb and reach farther.
Running to the bathroom when I say "let's wash your hands" and running to his bedroom when I say "change your diaper." Even if I say them in conversation, he runs to those rooms! He also RUNS, which is new in itself! He doesn't need his hands for balance anymore, so he instead uses them to pick up large objects and put them in odd places.
He does the signs for Fish, Kitty, Cookie, Doggie, Frog, Hat, Bath, Bus and Airplane (Hat, Bus, Doggie and airplane aren't new, but he does them a lot).
He also has at least one molar, maybe two! So he doesn't need his food cut up quite so small anymore.

Anyway, on to the pics!

Pumpkin patch!

Today we took James to the pumpkin patch to get our Halloween pumpkins. We had the pleasure of james's Mimi (Mary Helen) along for th ride! We visited Lone Pines farm and had a great time riding the hay ride down to the pumpkin patch and collecting our pumpkins. James kept tripping on the vines, it was pretty uneven ground in the patch!

While we were there, we also fed the goats, ran through the hay maze, and Eliot took James on the "cow train." It didn't rain on us, and, despite a long wait for the hay ride, good time were had by all!

A preview...

We decided to have James be Eeyore this Halloween, and of course I had to sew his costume. So tonight I had him try it on just to make sure it fits (it does, but not for long!). Anyway, here it is! (Just so ya know, James loved the hanger, he wouldn't let it go. We also had to turn on Mickey to get him to stand still long enough to take pics that weren't blurry!)

James is 16 months old!

James is 16 months old today! He is into EVERYTHING, and you really have to watch him so he doesn't get himself stuck somewhere or eat something he shouldn't. Unfortunately, James is sick this week (only the second cold he's had), so we're having a low-key celebration today. I am sick too, so we're definitely taking it easy!

Here are a couple pics from today... The first is while we were having our morning snack, the second is from some "painting" we did... I put fingerpaint in a ziploc bag and let him "paint" with a spoon. He had fun and it was easy to clean up!
