Today is my due date! I am 40 weeks preggo and ready for the end!! Here is what is going on with our LO this week:
It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.
All my tickers have ended and I'm sorry to say those of you who voted for anything before the 10th in the poll have lost (I was rooting for you, believe me!). I am hoping for a weekend birth, especially with the new moon and it being my due date! I read this though on the sidebar of my weekly e-mail from baby center:
You're 14 percent more likely to give birth on a Tuesday than on any other day of the week — and least likely to deliver on the weekend.
That's not very encouraging! Oh well... I am just relaxing and trying not to worry about it. Some people have suggested accupuncture as a means to induce (naturally), and while that is a good suggestion I'm not sure we can afford it at the moment. Soooo... the wait continues! Who knows, maybe he could even come today sometime??
Come one, kiddo, come out and meet us! These braxton hicks are starting to get really uncomfortable!!
